Kiwi Can

L.I: To have fun

For Kiwi Can it was fun week. For fun week we played games. We recap about the 4 themes we had each term. The 4 themes were Positive Relationships, Integrity, Resilience and Respect

Games
Hot potato
To play we have to pass the ball around. We have to say "Hot potato fast, Hot potato slow, Hot potato Hot potato out you go". If we say go and the ball lands on a person. The person out.
Musical Cones
To play there will be cone.
When the music plays we have to dance. If we don't dance were out. If the music stops we have to get a cone and put on our heads and sit down. If we don't get a cone were out.
Traffic Lights
 To play we needed to be in pairs and stand in a circle. One person has to stand behind the other person in front. If they say red the person out side the circle has to touch their head. If they say white the person outside has to touch the person in front shoulders. If they black the partners has to swap around. If they say blue the partners has to go in a full circle. If they say yellow the person in front has to touch the floor. If they are to slow to the action or do the wrong action then their out.
Billy Billy Bop
To play if they say Billy Billy bop to a person the person has to try and say bop before they can finish their sentence. If they say bop the person has to say nothing. If the person shouts out Short land Street everyone in a circle has to say Clear. If they say elephant the person has to make the trunk and the people next to the person has to make the ears.

Fractions

L.I: To define Fraction of sets

For maths we did fraction of sets. Fractions is is a whole object divided into equal pieces. We did Halves, Quarters, Thirds and fifths. Halves is a whole object divided into 2 equal pieces. Quarters is a whole object divided into 4 equal pieces. Thirds is a whole object divided into 3 equal pieces and Fifths is a whole object divided into 5 equal pieces.

L.I: To play in doubles

Doubles tennis is when two players play against another two player. Both  players on each team should have turns at hitting the ball. The person closer to the ball should hit the ball. We practised by playing doubles.

Kiwi can

L.I: To respect others for their differences

For Kiwi can we learnt about cultures, religions and customs. We also learnt that everyone has their own beliefs, ideas and customs. We had to think about what people do when they show respect to other people. For the activity we played Spot the difference. We had to get in partners then one person turns around and the other changes their appearance. After that the other person has to see what's different with their looks. After that we swap roles and did the same thing again. It was fun and interesting.

Kiwi Can

L.I: To be patient

For kiwi Can we learnt how to be patient. We play 3 different games to see how patient we can be. Our first game was called "Snap and escape". To play our first game is to put one hand flat and place to fingers on the other persons flat hand. We have to say a word and tell a story. When they say the key word. They have to take off their 2 fingers and try and catch the other person finger. Our next game is called " Pass it on". To play the person has to squeeze both shoulders of each team. We have to squeeze each others shoulder until the last person in the front. When the last person gets squeezed has to go and get the cone. If we squeezed when they didn't squeezed us then that's a point to the other team. Team with most points win. Our final game was called " End of the road ". To play we have to answer questions if we get it right the other opponent sits down. If the last person gets it right then the team wins. The only rules are you cannot help your teammate.

Kiwi can

L.I: To respect communication

For kiwi can we learnt respectful communication. We learnt about different ways of communicating. Like Culture language, Sign Language, English, Body language and others. After that we did our activity. It was called "Musical cones". To play we did some dancing. When the music plays we dance and when it stops we have to grab a cone and sit down and put a cone on our heads. If we don't get a cone then their out. Every time the amount of cones we get smaller and smaller until there 1 left.


Tennis

L.I: To learn how to serve

Today for kiwi sport we learnt how to serve a ball diagonally . First we had to throw a ball diagonally. We put our left hand up in the air and a right hand near our ear. Next we throw the ball over our left hand and try hit a cone. Every time we hit a cone its a point. Then we used our rackets in a different way. We have to throw the ball up and bend our elbows and hit the ball in a diagonally direction.

I watched "Kolo's Song from Tamaki College School. It was amazing and it interesting because it was about how he was passionate about singing and how he got into it.

I watched Moving on, Leaving behind from Saint Pius X Catholic School. It was amazing and interesting on how they created this video and introduced there school including Classmates, Classrooms and some of the teachers.

Supply & Demand

L.I: What is Supply & Demand

For Supply and demand we did a slide show on it and played a game about it. Supply mean when you make or get something wanted or needed to sell. Demand means a request or command made by someone. We also did Price, Quantity and Equilibrium. Price means the amount of money required or given payment for something. Quantity means the amount of a supply and Equilibrium means a condition in where opposite influences and equal.

For the game we had an item. We had choose the number of stocks to sell. We had to give a price between 2-5-10 dollars. 2 dollar is 20 number dice, 5 dollar is 10 number dice and 10 is a 6 number dice.  We roll the dice whatever it lands on is the amount of stock sell. Whatever the remaining is we subtract it with the money. The result is the money we have. The remaining stocks is the how much money we made.


Tennis

L.I: To learn the Volly
 We learnt how to do a Volly. A volly is when you try and keep the ball from bouncing on the floor. First we put the ball on the net and see where the rolls. Whatever side its lands is the first person serves. If the person doesn't hit the ball and it bounces on the floor on their side its a point to the other opponent.



Touch

L.I: To experience in touch
For touch we had 4 games. 1 against pride, Sylvia Park, Panama and Point England. I first game was against Pride. We lost because it was 3-1. The next game was against Panama. We lost again because its was 3-2. Then we lost our next game to Sylvia park because it was 7-0 and we lost our final game to Point England because it was 1-4. We lost all of games but the other teams in our group were doing good. The A team for the year 5-6 came second place in the play off.

L.I: To communicate respectfully

For kiwi can we learn how to communicate respectfully. We did animal Choir. We play as the cats. We had to say lines. We had to follow the bottle but also follow the flow of the song. We only had to follow the bottle. If he uses the hands and the team sings their part their out.

Tennis

L.I: To learn the basic grip on a Tennis Racket

For kiwi sport we learnt the basics of holding a tennis racket. Our coach was Coach Peter. he taught us the basics of holding a Tennis Racket.To warm up we did some catching. Our partner has to hold a ball above our hands facing down. The other person who is going to catch the ball has to try to catch it but our hands has to face down. Once they drop the ball the person has to catch it. After the warm up we did throwing and hitting. The partner has to throw three balls to the other person with the racket. To hold the racket you have to use the hand that you use writing with and hold it at the bottom. The is called the Forehand. The other way is to hold both hands on the Tennis racket at the bottom. That's called Backhand.

Maori

L.I: To learn new Maori words

For Maori we translated Maori words into English words. We also translated questions and answering them.  We had to answer Who is your friend (Friends), Who is your grandmother and Father, who's your Mother and Father and who is your Brother and sister.

L.I: To work with each other

For kiwi can we did some challenges. We did the human knot. We had to try and untangle our self selves into a circle. We had to hold hands in a different spot. Not hold hands with the person next to you or in front of you. We had to hold hands with the people from other sides. We learnt about team work. Since all of the activities we have done is about team work and we all been in a team.

basic facts

L.I: To remember basic maths facts

For basic facts I did the speed demon Challenge. I took me 10 minutes and 16 seconds. I had to do 10 basic fact boxes. I did all 9 multiplications and 1 division. I only knew my 3,2,10 and 5 because it's the basics but the rest is really hard. The division is kinda hard but at the same time its easy because its just the reverse version of the time table.


Reading

L.I: To recap what we learn

For reading our group created bookmarks. In the bookmarks are the things we learnt from 3 terms ago. Our bookmarks has to explain how people should read.  I think predicting, inferring, prior knowledge and self monitoring is a good skill. I read The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me. Created by Roald Dahl and Illustrated by Quentin Blake.


Orchestra

L.I: To learn to tell the stories by music

For the Orchestra trip. During this show we learnt some new instrument. They also told a story by playing music and the actors dancing. Its was about a man and his daughter Odebt. The man got poisoned  by a goblin and started mutating into a monster. Odebt found a new friend Moon Man and his son Moon boy. Soon the Goblin poisoned Moon boy. It didn't turn him into a monster it killed him but Moon man revived him with his magical healing powers and soon Moon boy was alive. The father came back in his monster form scaring Odebt but Moon boy gave Odebt his healing powers to heal his father. Odebt healed her father and soon he turn back to normal. They in brace a hug and started dancing with each other. That was the end of the story.



Maori

L.I: To finish task that relate to Maori

For Maori we completed 2 tasks. Our first task was the Nga Atua. For the Nga Atua task we had  to match gods with other gods. Our second task was the Wiki rua. For the Wiki rua task we had to translate countries and cities in New Zealand.




Companies

L.I: To learn the different between Goods and service

For inquiry we had to split companies in different category. Goods means when you buy things and take it. Like an Bakery. Service means you get your things but you don't need to take it. Like an Restaurant. 

Meaning/Function

L.I: To research

For maths we did some research. We researched 21 words. Those 21 words related to a plane. So we researched body parts of an plane. We learnt what each body part of the plane does. We had to do the meaning and the function. Some of the body parts of the plane don't have function. Some of the words are not part of the plane. Its part of how that plane works.

Kiwi Can

L.I: To show our ability

For kiwi can we did some challenges. Our first challenge was to lift me and my partner. We had to lock arms back to back. We had to try and stand up.  Our second challenge was to do the same thing but everyone had to do it. I third challenge was the pyramid. We had to get 3 people on the bottom, 2 on the middle and 1 on the top. Our final challenge was us making a circle. When Mr Simalu says "Go". We have to sit down on each others lap.

Maori

L.I: To learn about Maori
For Maori we had to make a group of 6 and do tasks. Our first task is to understand words. Like who is your friend, what's your name who is your mum and dad. Our second task was to translate Maori words in English by watching 2 scenes to get Maori words.

Kiwi Can

L.I: To treat ourselves

For kiwi can we had our new theme. We learnt  about respect. Also we learnt about treating each other. We played our first game called "Apple, Orange and Banana" basically if they say Apple we jump forward, if they say Orange we jump back and if they say banana we turn the other way.  Our next activity was called "1 truth 1 lie". What we do is say one truth and a lie. Then people have to choose a side. If we get it right we get a point. Person with most points wins.

For commenting I commented on Alayah's blog post. It was a reading topic about the Ihaumatao event. I liked the way she explained what happen during the event and talking about what other people said about the event.

L.I: To remember Basic Facts.

I did the Basic Facts up to 4. For multiplications. I did the 2, 5, 3 and 4 time tables. I got 59 correct and 1 incorrect. It took me 3 minutes and 4 seconds to complete 4 boxes for Multiplication. I did the speed demon challenge. Here is the proof.
