L.I Create an Listing Poem about any topic.

For writing for we create list peoms. List poems mean's listing differnt things that links to th topic, as example How to make a firend?, my group create an poem listing differnt ideas on how you can make firends, I really enjoyed working on these as I know what Im doing, I understand what I need to do,I know how an List poem's structures as example an List poem uses only one word at the start of each sentinces, and had full stops and captail letters at each sentince. We did this by sharing our ideas and working collabortivtly and understanding how an list poem works, what it looks like and how you can write one.

Bravery

L.I: To edit our writing using DRAFT

DRAFT is a acronym that stands for:
D - Delete
R - Rearrange
A - Add
F - Fix
T - Talk
We used DRAFT to edit our poems. Me and my partner (Micah) created a poem about bravery. What we did was look for an abstract noun. A abstract noun is something that exist but you cannot touch it. In our poem we used the 5 senses which are see, touch, smell, hear and taste. We also created complex sentences. We added our puncuation includidng a comma and fullstop. We also used metaphors and similies.

After creating our poem we proof read it and edited the poem. We rearranged words, added words and deleted words. I found this activity fun because I got to hear everyones powerful poems. I also liked my one because I think me and Micah did a good job writing our poem.

Failure

L.I: To write abstract noun sense poem

Abstract nouns are nouns you can feel but can’t physically feel. See, smell, taste, hear and feel. Our poem had to include the 5 senses wich compose of touch, sight, feel, smell, see. We also included feel. A metaphor is comparing two things without using the words 'like' or 'as'.

I enjoyed this activity because I got creative with the sentences I put. To me it made sense and I thought it was a powerful. I like my poem.

Dialouge

L.I: To understand how to use and correctly puncate dialouge writing

For writing we created a dialouge. A diolouge is a conversation between characters. We read a text about the mother and the three little pigs and created the next five lines using a site called Ifaketextmessage. Its a site where you can create fake text messages. We used this to put our five lines. It looks like a conversation between two people. After that we took a screenshot and added it on our DLO. We explained what a dialouge is on our DLO. I found this activity quite fun because I got to play around with the ifaketextmessages site.

Cinquain Poem

L.I: To write a cinquain poem to describe a sports star

We have been learning to write cinquain poems to help us strengthen our connections to description. A cinquain poem has 5 lines. Each line has a different purpose. Line 1 is a noun which is a name. Line 2 has 2 adjectives taht describe the noun. Line 3 has 3 verbs that end in ‘ing’ and describe the actions. Line 4 is a noun phrase which is a group of words (not a sentence) that go together to describe the noun. Line 5 is a synonym which is a word with a similar meaning to the noun.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to use words i've never heard before. The meaning behind some of the words are powerful thats what I liked about my poem.

Moment in Time

LI: To use the language features and structure of published poem to help use write our own poem

We looked at the language features and structure of a poem called ‘A Moment in Time’ and used our experiences from camp to follow the structure and collaboratively create our own moment in time poem. To describe what we heard, what we saw, how we felt and what we wondered we used our senses, adjectives and adverbs. Ajectives are words that describe things. Adverbs are words that describe actions.

I found this activity intresting because the way out group created some lines for our poem.

5 minute of camp

L.I: To recount a 5 minute snapshot of one experience you had at camp
_____________________________________________________________________________________
We didn't expect this...
As me and my performance group got ready I was stressing out about how people would react. Me and the boys went to the Stuart room with the rest of the class to see the camp show.

As me and my group sat down, David and Mahdi (The hosts) introduced the Camp Concert of 2021. Everyone was waiting on who was going to go first. My group was hoping we wouldn’t go first but no. David put us first to perform. Our group was shocked and annoyed. We were all stressed because we knew we wouldn’t get a really big reaction considering our jokes weren't the funniest. But as we walked up everybody started clapping and cheering us up which gave me a little bit of confidence.

When we went up we went and said our jokes but we were laughing because before we started performing Azatulah (a group member) said a funny joke that made us laugh. Throughout the whole performance we were laughing. When it was my turn to say my joke I was extremely nervous. I thought that no one would laugh at my joke but in reality I was just laughing and when I said my joke everybody else was laughing. We really didn’t expect everyone else to laugh but we were proud that we stood up and performed it like it was nothing.

The other performances were amazing, my personal favourite was the Poly boys. They mixed the Tongan Sipi tau, the Samoan Siva tau and the Fijian Cibi. I also liked the Chakos performance. I liked the part where they started solo dancing in the middle of the circle. At the end David and Mahdi told everyone the places. Everyone was curious about which place they would come in. Everyone was nervous, everyone was excited to know and then... the places were revealed. To everybody surprise 3 groups came first. It was the Poly boys, Sulia solo dance and Poe vs Doe. Our group came second. Which we were proud of but like I said earlier we didn’t expect a big reaction from everyone and we definitely didn’t expect the place we would be in.

Everybody did a good job performing. My group and I are proud of what place we came in. It was a fun time and I like the interaction between the performers and the audience during the Poe vs Doe performance. At the end we got lollipops and chocolate. It was a good treat.

For this activity we had around 5 minutes to write about an activity or event that happened at camp. I wrote my recount about the Camp Concert. Basically what happened is that we got into these groups that we made up. In our groups we have to come up with an act. Our act was dry jokes. Basically just jokes that are not funny. We also came up with a name. Our name was MC Stand up. We had around 2 weeks to get ready and when the day came we had to perform it. Our group came second and 3 groups came first. All the perfomances were great.

Print Advertising

Print Advertising is advertising a product.

An advertisement needs these effects to make them look persuasive.

Some effects advertisement uses are things like Static image. Static image is when an image is frozen and while the image is frozen, products are being shown as well as the price.

Another effect advertisements use are slogans. Slogans are phrases that companies use to support there company.

Advertisements need to use these special effect to persuade people to buy their product.

Persuasive Speeches

I presented my speech about kids being allowed to game as much as they want.

Before saying our speeches, a group of people who finished their speeches started practising.

When it was my turn to say my speech I was nervous at first. I then started gaining confidence and I finished my whole speech.

My teacher told me that my reasons and facts and statistics were good.

I felt very good after saying my speech. I think I persuaded most people with my speech. I also liked the feed back that my teacher gave me.

Persuasive speech

For Writing we wrote down our persuasive speech.

In my speech I had to introduce myself. Then I had to introduce my topic and say our rhetorical question. After that I had to write down my POV (Point of view) and why I believe in my argument. Next I wrote down reasons on why kids should be able to play games when they want and how long they want. I also researched facts to support my reason. After that I wrote a solution for the situation. Finally I wrote down a summary for my speech.

This task was so fun. I had fun researching the facts. Now I feel confident to say my speech because of the information I found. I feel like the information I found is good enough to convince most people.

Persuasive Speech (WIP)

This week for writing I planned out my speech about why kids should be allowed to game as much as they want.

First I had to come up with a greeting. Next I wrote down my introduction for my speech. Then I made a rhetorical question. After that I wrote down my opinion about my argument.

Then I researched some facts about why kids should play games longer. The facts I've learnt from websites were very interesting and I also found out that when your playing games you can develop some things. After writing down my facts I wrote a solution to that problem.

Then finally I wrote down a text about what happens if people disagree with my opinion.

I found this activity interesting but I feel a little bit nervous once I have to say my speech. I do feel good about the information I found because I think its good enough to persuade most people.

Brainstorming

For writing I had to brainstorm some ideas to make a persuasive speech about. Texas and I read a text about why a person didn't want a statue to be taken down. We brainstormed reasons on why the statue shouldn't be taken down. One of those reasons were because it would be a waste of money. Brainstorming is thinking about a bunch of ideas. Next I wrote down 3 headings I could make a topic about. Those 3 headings were School, Home and Community. I added 3 arguments under those topics for my argument. Then I chose 2 arguments to make my persuasive speech. I chose gaming as my topic and my argument was Kids should be allowed to game as much as they want.

Gruffalo rewrite

In the Gruffalo story there was an Owl. The Owl lived in a tree top house and the Gruffalo's favourite food is Owl ice cream.

The Owl was swapped with a falcon. The falcon lived in a deep dark cave. The Gruffalo's favourite food is Falcon fries.

The Owl was swapped to a Falcon because they are both flying creatures and they can catch their preys with their claws on their feet.

The Owl ice cream was swapped to Falcon fries because it fits with the animal.

The tree top house was swapped to a deep dark cave because its a interesting place for a falcon to live in.

Gruffalo Character

Character descriptions talk about the characters personality, appearance and experiences. Character descriptions can also use figurative and literal language.
Experiences describes where the character lives, their hobbies, special achievements and family and friends.
Appearance describes the character's face and hair, their body, clothes.
Personality describes what type of person the character is, how the character behaves, how the character speaks and what makes the character different.
Writing character descriptions helps practise visualising and using figurative language and descriptive adjectives.

Figurative Language

Figurative language is deducing the meaning of what a person said.

There's 5 different figurative languages.

A simile is comparing 2 things by using "like" or "as".

A metaphor is comparing 2 things without using "like" or "as".

A personification is giving human traits to objects and ideas.

A hyperbole is exaggerating to show strong feelings or ideas.

A understatement is expressing with less strength than expected (the opposite of hyperbole).

Synonyms

A synonym is a word that has a similar meaning to another word.

For example: Happy and joy. Happy means being positive. Joy means being happy. Happy and joy has a similar meaning, therefore happy and joy is a synonym.

Use verbs, nouns, adverbs and adjectives to get some synonyms.

Verbs are action words for example "make".

Nouns are words that are use to name things for example "man"

Adverbs are words that describe a verb for example "quickly".

Adjectives are words that describe something, for example "warm"

Verbs, noun, Adverbs and adjectives helps my vocabulary because there is more words that are similar to another word.

Homonyms & Homographs

L.I: To investigate Homonyms and Homographs

Homonyms are words that sound the same, spelt the same but mean different things. For example: Hail, Hail and Hail. The first Hail means small drops of ice. The other Hail means praising and the third Hail means to attract or call out someones attention.

Homographs are words that is spelt the same, sound different and mean different. For example: Row and Row. The first Row means a line or propelling a boat and the second Row means an argument.

Homophones

Homophones are words that sound the same but have a different spelling and meaning.

For Example: Blue and Blew
The word "Blue" means a colour and the word "Blew" means blowing air.

Homonyms, Homophones and Homograph

L.I: To investigate Homophones

Homophones sound the same, spelt different and mean different. Homonyms sound the same, spelt the same but has different meanings. Homographs sound different, same spelling but different meanings.

Example: Eye went to the library to read a book called bright but the library was close.

Eye is a homophone because it has a different spelling and meaning but it sounds the same.  Bright is a homonym because its sound and spelt the same but it has a different meaning.  Close is a homograph because its spelt the same but it has a different meaning and pronunciation.

Make sure to look for these errors, so sentences can make sense and words doesn't have the wrong meaning.
