Optical Illusion | SLJD3 - 1

Optical illusions are shapes that confuses or messes with people.

My optical illusion is called the impossible triangle. To make this shape I followed a step by step tutorial. The triangle on the left is the tutorials and the right one is mine.

To make this optical illusion I used a ruler, a piece of paper, a pencil, and an eraser.

There are many different kinds of optical illusion like moving ones, ones that have a short effect on the world around you.

This activity was confusing because I didn't know where to erase the lines but it was still simple to do. I had fun doing this as well.

Kowhaiwhai

Our third task for the summer learning journey is called Tanerore. In the Tanerore task we have to create a kowhaiwhai pattern. We could make it on a google drawing or a piece of paper but I chose the google drawing.

Tanerore is the son of Hine-raumati. Tanerore is the personification for shimmering air. Tanerore performed a haka for his mother.

The wiriwiri is an hand action that is use to represent shimmering heat. The wiriwiri is when you make your hand tremble. The wiriwiri can be seen in a haka or action songs which is also know as Waiata a ringa.

I enjoyed creating the kowhaiwhai patterns. I think my kowhaiwhai pattern is very unique out of all the students in my class.

Aboriginal

For art I did Aboriginal art. Aboriginal art comes from Australia and in the art it tells a story. The story is told by symbols that has meanings to it.

I learnt how to make Aboriginal art using the dots and dragging technique. The dots technique is basically when you make dots to create symbols. The dragging technique is when you drag the cotton bud (Or any painting materials) to create symbols.

Last week I practised doing the dot and dragging technique. I made symbols on a piece of paper. When I was practising the dot technique I had to space the dots equally and try make the dots the same size. For the dragging technique, I only made symbols.

Then the next week I had to make the aboriginal art that is going to be on the wall. So I made my aboriginal art. First I traced out a cut out Koala. Next I designed and coloured the inside of my traced out Koala. Then I made symbols on the outside of my Koala and made symbols. The symbols I made is apart of a (customise) story of the Koala.

The Koala's story: The koala was walking on a hot day and then he fainted. Then the Koala woke up next to water and tried to drink it but then he woke up in the reality world and he spotted a hunter. The hunter walked up to the Koala with a weapon and he killed the Koala.

Masking art

L.I: To create geometric art by using masking technique

For our art session we did Masking art. Masking Art is basically using tape to section off parts of a whole and colour the parts in. Then you rip the tape slowly and all you have left is the coloured in parts. Make sure to not press down on the tape hard or else it will peal the paper with it.

First I made my frame. Second I section off parts of the paper. Those section are the sections I have to colour in. Then I used the pastels to colour in the sections. After colouring all the sections I slowly ripped off the tape.

I found this activity really fun and I think I can make more of these type of art.

These are the results:
