Rugby Events

LI: To apply inquiry, literacy and numeracy skills to learn about the RWC
For the rugby events we did rugby events in the past. In 2015 31st of October New Zealand won the rugby world cup three times and this record topped all of the other teams. We learnt facts about Rugby and my favourite fact is that in 2011 23rd on October. The rugby world cup was held at Eden Park in Auckland.

Swimming

L.I: To learn water safety

For swimming we wore Life jackets to float on the water. We had to Doggy Paddle all the way from one side to the other. We also did a Monkey Climb. The Monkey Climb is when you  put your arms on the drain and climb to the other side. We also did a Pencil Dive. The Pencil Dive is when you make one of your hand into a fist and put it on your heart and the other arm behind your head and take a big step into the water. When I did these stunts I felt nervous. I felt nervous because I thought I was going to hit my feet on the bottom. I'm going to use these skills when I go swimming again.

World Time

LI: apply inquiry, literacy and numeracy skills to learn about the RWC
For this task we did World Time. We had to check time between Japan, Suth Africa, Canada, Fiji, France, Australia, USA and New Zealand. We also checked the west and east time in those countries. Like Australia. In the east of Australia is 7 pm and in West its only 5 pm.

Venn Diagram

L.I: Find as many similarities and differences as you can between New Zealand and Japan.

For this task we did a Venn diagram between New Zealand and Japan. We found similarities and differences between both countries. We looked at facts about Japan and New Zealand. I found out that the population in New Zealand is 0.06% of the world's total population, but in Japan its 1.64% of the world's total population. I also learnt that New Zealand has 4.78 million people. Japan and New Zealand are very different to each other.

Rube Goldberg

L.I: To make a working Rube Goldberg machine with the 6 simple machines.

For inquiry we did our Rube Goldberg machines. Our challenge was the putter challenge. We had to push cars into a marble. The marble rolls down on a Incline Plain. Then the marbles hit the Dominoes and the last domino has a pin. The pin will pop the water balloon the one of us hits the golf ball with a putter into a cup. We used Marbles, Putter, Dominoes, Golf ball, Pins, Balloon. String, ruler and water. The simple machines we used was the Incline plain, Wedge, Pulley, Lever. The dominoes were challenging to go through because every time the marble goes down the ruler the marble only hits some of the dominoes but not all of it. I would change the dominoes with a card board track instead. So the marble will roll smoothly on the card board into the last domino with the pins on it.

Positions

LI: apply inquiry, literacy and numeracy skills to learn about the RWC.
For this task I had to match positions to the rugby players . We completed this task by searching these rugby players positions. I learnt facts about these players that I was not aware of before.

Swimming (Kiwi Sport)

L.I: To learn new skills
For swimming I did a back float and a stream line. We also went in the deep pool. To float on your back all you have to do is go on your back and look at your feet. We also did this with noodles. We put the noodles on our back and under my arms and started floating back. For the stream line, I put my arms up and put my hands together. Then I crouch down and push off in a swimming position.  To get in, I had to turn around and hold on the edge. Then I slowly got into the pool. In the deep pool I had to float on my back.
