Poetry / Online Class

L.I Create an Listing Poem about any topic.

For writing for we create list peoms. List poems mean's listing differnt things that links to th topic, as example How to make a firend?, my group create an poem listing differnt ideas on how you can make firends, I really enjoyed working on these as I know what Im doing, I understand what I need to do,I know how an List poem's structures as example an List poem uses only one word at the start of each sentinces, and had full stops and captail letters at each sentince. We did this by sharing our ideas and working collabortivtly and understanding how an list poem works, what it looks like and how you can write one.

Water safety lessons

L.I: To learn about how to be safe in the water

For Swimming we were continuing on learning about Water Safety, learning different strokes. We started off doing Streamline as a warm up, and continued doing different strokes. We then did strokes but these strokes helped us manage our breathing, and let us feel less tired. It also helped us lessen our head movement, and restrict your neck movement. It really helps, and another thing we did was starfish but we had to only kick to strengthen our calve muscle.

Fantastic fish | Mrs Linda group

 L.I: To summarise a text

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Summary

Fantastic fish use their gills to breathe underwater. They have three different fins to help them swim. These are the dorsal, pectoral and tail fin.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

For reading with Mrs Linda we read fantastic fish. It’s about different unique fish. Fiish have three different fins. They are the dorsal fin which keeps the fish from rolling over, the tail fin which pushes the fish forward and the pectoral fish which helps the fish steer.

Some interesting facts we found were that fish have three different types of fins. Mudskippers can live out of the water and a manta ray has a wingspan about 7 metres across.

We found this activity fun and interesting because we found out the different uses of the fins and there are some fish that don’t look like fish for example the seahorse and the mudskipper. This was an enjoyable activity.

Mindfullness Reflection #1

LI: to practice mindfulness when in stressful situations.

Mindfulness is training your mind to become aware of not only yourself, but also your surroundings. When it comes to mindfulness, there are two zones. The red zone and the green zone. The red zone is all the negative emotions you feel when stressed. The green zone is all of the positive emotions which help you when feeling stressed. For example, when in a stressful situation, you can clear your mind and stay calm. This is when your mind enters the green zone. In the red zone, you feel waves of negativity overcoming your mind.

When trying to focus, your mind wanders. Although your body can be present, your mind can be wandering around and thinking about the past or future. With mindfulness, you focus on the present moment and what is happening at that moment.

The mindfulness practice helps you clear your mind, focus on your breathing and overall makes you content and composed. To do this activity, we faced away from others to be focused. We had a straight back, soft stomach, closed eyes and our hands on our knees. When the mindfulness bell rang, we calmed ourselves and focused on our breathing. When breathing, you are more focused on you and your surroundings.

Topic 7: Osmosis and Transpiration

L.I: To learn the science of osmosis and transpiration. This week for science tech we looked into Osmosis and Transpiration. Osmosis is when water moves from the bottom of a plant to the top. Xylem which is a tiny cell in the plant helps the water move upwards. Transpiration is when the sunlight evaporates the water. A thing we learnt during this lesson was photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a process where the plants creates the food. Its made by carbon dioxide, water, sunlight, sugar or glucose and oxygen.

Our activity was to find the xylem in a celery. First we pour 150 mls of water in a beaker and put ten drops of food colouring. Next we grab a celery and cut the end of the celery. Then we mix the celery into the food colouring water. After that we put the leaves of the celery in a bag and wait 30 minutes. After 30 minutes we open the bag and start cutitng the middle of the celery. Finally we look for the Xylem and take photos of it.

I found this activty fun because the xylem looks really cool with the food colouring. I also found the facts really interesting.

Matariki Brouchures

L.I: To stregnthen our connections with Matariki

Inside

Outside
This week for Matariki we created Matariki Brochures. The inside brochure shows the trandition and the clothing of Matariki. The photo in the middle shows Papatuanuku, the grandmother of the 6 sisters. A fun fact, Ururangi likes to race her sister to Papatuanuku and wrap her arms around herself. The outside brochure shows facts about the Matariki stars. It also explains about the Matariki celebration. A fun fact about Matariki is that it will get its public holiday on June 24th 2022. I found this activity fun because the facts I found were very interesting. I was also surprised because the public holiday announcment.
