Duffy

L.I: To learn about reading

At our Duffy assembly with had a famous person name is Robert Rakete. He is known as the brown wiggle and a dancing with the stars performer. HE came to our assembly and explain why he loved reading. He loved reading because he loved a book series. Robert is the brown wiggle. He was feature in a music video called Have A Good Day Kai Pai To Ra.


Longer sentences

L.I: To write clear and detailed simple sentences

For writing I have to make 1 simple sentence into a detailed long sentence. First I had to watch a stock video and describe what the video is showing me. Second I had to make a basic sentence. Thirdly I have to add more detail and add description. Finally I have to add each of the 4 keywords to the new sentence and make a longer sentence.

Term 1 Kiwi can Overview

L.I: To recap everything we did in kiwi can

Today in kiwi can we recapped all of our learning from term 1. Our big theme was Positive Relationships. Our 3 modules were: Positive Communication, Friendship and Co-operation. After we made 3 groups. Each group talked about the 5 w's & H for 1 module. After we talked as a group, each group shared their ideas back to the class.


My reflection 
1 thing I enjoyed this term.
I enjoyed last man standing and Hand soccer because both of those games were really fun.

1 thing I learnt.
I learnt how to Co-operate with others.

1 thing I need to be better at.
I need to get better at communicating because my communication is bad when we play games that involves groups.

The Paisley brothers

L.I: To research a range of resources to find information

What did I use to learn this information.
The Paisley brothers are Soldiers. Their name is Alexander Paisley and Harold William Paisley. They both fought in World war 1. Alexander died from a shot during the war and Harold death is unknown. Alexander died on the 8th of may 1915 and Harold died on the 22nd of February 1919. Alexander Paisley service number is 8/689 and Harold William Paisley service number is 58920.

Kiwi Sport ( Ki O rahi )

L.I: To practice the full game of Ki O rahi

For Kiwi Sport the year 5's played the full game of Ki O rahi.

How to play the Taniwha role
To play the Taniwha role you have to throw the Ki ( Ball ) at the tupu
 ( The rock ) to earn a point inside Te Roto ( Lake ).

How to play the Kioma role
To play the Kioma role you have to run away from getting ripped and touch as many  Taniwha's teeth ( Po ) as we can to earn the amout. If we drop the ball then our points are back to zero and we have to try and earn the points again. The only was to score is touch the ground in Pawero ( Island ).

Poetry

L.I: To identify purposes for poems

What is Poetry?
Poetry is a text for communicating ideas and expressing feelings to people.

Poetry can include sound patterns. They are rhyme and Rhythm.

What is Rhyming?
Rhyming is is repeating sounds in words. There are four kinds of rhyme: Consonance, End rhyme, Alliteration, and Assonance.

What is Consonance?
Consonance is repeating consonant sounds.

What is end rhyme?
End rhyme is repeating the same sound at the end of a line.

What is Alliteration?
Alliteration is repeating a sound at the beginning

What is Assonance?
Assonance is repeating a vowel sound.

How I learnt it
I learnt it by high lighting the sounds of a poetry
